When typing a phrase in the Search box in the Responsive HTML5 output, in RoboHelp 2017, no results appear after hitting ENTER once, but the resulting topics appear only after hitting ENTER the second time.
When deleting the phrase in the Search box and then hitting ENTER, the previously displayed topics remain on display and do not disappear even after hitting ENTER several times. The topics should disappear when hitting ENTER with nothing on the Search box.

That version is now so old, I'm not even sure if that was a bug at the time or it's already been fixed. See if you can load whatever the last patch of RH2017 was or consider upgraing to the lastest version - you can try a trial copy of RH2022 patch3 (Nov 2023) on a copy of your project to try it out (be warned, the New UI takes a bit getting used to).

I don't think the double Enter was an issue, I'll check tomorrow. Pretty sure searching on nothing never worked, the results showed until another valid search was made.
Note that 2022 is a subscription only version, unlike your current version.

Not an issue in a simple test and I confirmed you can't search on nothing. Earlier results will stay until you perform another search or close the panel.
Try a quick test in a new project with just a couple of topics.

Hitting ENTER twice on a search word in the search box occurs when the Responsive HTML5 file is opened from an online location. When I open the Responsive HTML5 file from Documents folder in my host pc, behavior is normal and results appear after hitting ENTER once and results disappear when ENTER is hit with nothing in the search box.

Ah! That sounds like your webserver instance is missing some files that your local instance has. I would wipe all the files off the server location & re-upload the working local ones. If it still persists, it might be some JavaScript issue being disabled on the server.

Will upgrading to the latest RoboHelp version solve this issue?

Maybe, but neither Peter or I recall it being an issue in the first place. The fact that it works locally & not when accessed via the webserver, indicates that there's something "off" at the server level, not the content.

Great, thanks for your help.

Maybe try the old trick of deleting the CPD file with the project closed and then reopening it. ________________________________________________________
