Spontaneous Killed

Guest

I am using RH HTML X5 and I normally do not generate printed documentation. However, today I tried and had no issues. It generated but I had some graphics issues so, I went back to correct but now when I generate RoboHelp flashes once and then disappears. Totally killed. No warnings. No error messages. Nada. I've rebooted and tried several times and I don't get anything.

Any ideas? Anyone experienced this huge bug before?

No I have not seen that one reported before.

Is your project on a network, other than under source control. If it is, that is likely the cause. Move it to your local drive and try again.

After that I would first try right clicking Single Source Layouts and creating a new print layout.

If that fails, create a new project with just a few topics and try to generate a print output from that.

If that succeeds, post back and we'll try to identify what is wrong with your project.

If the new project also fails, I think I would then uninstall and reinstall RoboHelp.

Let us know how you get on. It's late here now so you won't get any further response from me until tomorrow.

1. Ok, so it's already on a local drive.
2. New print layout worked for setting up but as soon as I tried to generate, it died.

At this point, I got the brilliant idea to try the Batch Generate and only selected the new layout I created. Using Batch Generate, it generates without issue. Very strange. That makes me believe it's not the project (but what do I know). Right now, it's a simple hack around the problem.

If you think I should try the other steps, I will. Or if it continues to be an issue, I will.

It could still be the project. It's possible that whatever is causing it could be in the project but has no effect when you batch generate.

Given the other tests will not take long, I would give them a try.
