Has anyone seen this crash error message and quickly resolved the issue to continue using the Trial version?

AppName: robohtml.exe AppVer: 8.0.0.203 ModName: msvcrt.dll

It's not a direct answer to your question but you can apply the patches to the trial. Maybe that will stop the crashing.

Hi Peter, I have applied all patches that are on the Adobe update page. When I select Update from Help menu in RH8, it says there are no new updates.

It is not a message I am familiar with.

You don't say when it occurs and whether it happens with all projects.

Is the project local?

Peter, This occurs at start-up all the time, whether I open an existing project or try to create one. RH gets to the UI and then simply crashes and publishes the error message.

AppName: robohtml.exe AppVer: 8.0.0.203 ModName: msvcrt.dll

ModVer: 7.0.2600.5512 Offset: 00037fd4

@ the Google Groups version of this list's subject, several people suggest that the latest patch is causing trouble for some machines. I would use their remedies, but I am waiting for my contacts @ Adobe to respond to my requests for assistance. Since I'm using a trial version, these days when RH doesn't work mean days I lose on the 30 day trial period.

Inexplicably, RH now works. After numerous attempts to open projects created with RH8 and creating new ones, all of which crashed with an ugly error message, RH now works.

I will simply tell you what I did immediately before opening RH again and having it work, without attempting interpretation or conjecture.

Immediately before the strange events that I recount occurred, I had tried to open or create RH8 projects, with the same consequence: crash!

Then I opened RH8 thinking that there was a function on the RH8 splash page menus to "peel away" the most recent patches. (I read on another forum that this functionality exists, though I have yet to find it.)

Not finding this function, I clicked Help>On Starter. This booted the Air help interface. As it was starting, however, RH downloaded a bunch of files, some of which were html files. There seemed to be others aside from html files.

After these files downloaded, the Air Help interface activated. I didn't see anything there to help me, so I closed it.

I then tried one last time to open a previously succesful RH8 project.

As it loaded, I held my breath waiting for the message of dying code to display.

To my shock and utter dismay, the project opened and -- wonder of wonders - stayed open.

I clicked various menus waiting for RH8 to terminate at each click. Success all the way.

Finally, I tried what I thought was sure to fail: create a project. Again, my expectations of disaster were thwarted.

To this moment, I cannot provide a rational explanation for this mysterious series of events. Perhaps those much wiser than I will illuminate me with the knowledge as to what just occurred. Meanwhile, I sit here before the glow of the CRT and navigate delightedly thru the well-known menus and crafted network of RH8 functionality.
