Trouble importing a RoboHelp 2015 into RoboHelp 2019 (non-classic)

Explorer ,
Sep 18, 2018 Sep 18, 2018

We have a help project that was generated with RoboHelp 2015.  I have downloaded the trial of RoboHelp 2019.  I tried importing our existing project into RH2019 (non-classic).  Only a few (10 or 15 out of a couple of thousand) messages show up in the help (WebHelp).  I imported the same project into the classic RH2019 and it works fine.  Any ideas why the new one wouldn't work?

Just got off the phone with RH tech support.  It ended up being a corrupt TOC.  We created a new one and it was fine.  Some missing files (we were working with a copy).

I have moved this thread as the problem is not related to an output type.

You are talking about importing into 2019. What steps are you following exactly? The correct procedure is to open 2019 (new) and click the Updgrade RoboHelp Project link.

What do you mean by 10 or 15 messages? Are you talking about topics?

That is exactly what I did.
Here is the resulting help:

As I said, there should be 1500-2000 topics.

This is a bit of a wild guess based on something I have seen elsewhere.

Create a backup first. I always recommend creating the backup as a zip file. That prevents you opening it accidentally and working on it before you realise it was the backup. This way you always have a clean backup that can be used to create a new clean copy time after time.

Next in 2015 right click the responsive layouts and export them somewhere.

Delete the responsive layouts from the Output Setup pod. Close 2015.

Import again in 2019. Initially select a layout there and generate again.

Post back either way. If it doesn't work, I will try to find out more.

I somehow don't have permission to reply to my own post anymore.

How do I export the responsive layouts?

Right click the layout in the Output Setup pod.

You are looking in the Output pod. Go to the Output Setup pod. Look for

Screen Layouts.

Sorry for being such a dummy.  I've been using RoboHelp for a number of years, but I don't use it every day.

In the Output Setup pod, the Screen Layouts doesn't have anything under it (no plus sign).

Expand layouts to see the layout you want to export.

The only way that can happen is when there is no layout to export.

Isn't there a default layout.  I have outputs defined, but may be using the default layout.

No. If you create a new project you will see there is nothing there. When you select a layout the first time, that is where it gets added.

Time to look at some backup I think.

Late here now but I will look again in the morning.

This is a functioning project that I use to produce 3 help systems. There

are 3 outputs that I use that appear in the Outputs (SSL) pod. Apparently,

I never selected a layout.

That could be related.

I am assuming it worked when you did select a layout. I think that one has caught us all.

... and now it's OK in 2019?

It's OK in 2019 classic. But not OK in the new 2019. Only a few topics

are produced.

OK. So what are you trying to upgrade to 2019 new? The 2015 project or the 2019 project? Indeed, have you tried both?

When you tried to upgrade from 2015, am I right in thinking that at that time there were no layouts in the 2015 project? If so, then pursuing the method in post 5 will not help.

Can you share the project direct with me? See the Contact page on my site and send the project as instructed there. Do make sure you include a link to this thread and please do not email the project direct.

If I can't find a cause, then I would like to be able to share it with Adobe. It will not be made public anywhere.
