Trying to use Subversion with PushOK with RoboHelp 9 on Win 7 64-bit

Community Beginner ,
Jul 22, 2011 Jul 22, 2011

Since RoboSource does not work on Windows 7 64-bit, and we have migrated to using the TC3 suite,

we have a huge source control problem on our hands.

Trying to switch from RoboSource to Subversion with PushOK using the instructions from here:

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/robohelp/articles/robohelp_subversion.html

We are not having any luck at all. Lots of errors, lots of RH9 crashes, and now this message appears:

RH9 PushOK Error.PNG

We are running Windows 7 64-bit, with RoboHelp 9 (from TC3), and running the SVNSCC x64 1.6.6.2 "PushOK".

In addition to the exception screenshot above, we also get this message "Adobe RoboHelp 9 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

Is there anyone that can help us? We are out of ideas and resources... Thank you.

We also tried SVNSCC 1.6.6.2  and that did not change anything. Same errors, same problems.

Hello Saundra,

RoboHelp 9 can be integrated with 32-bit installer of PushOk Subversion client only.

It seems that you have tried with 64-bit installer of PushOk. Requesting you to try the suggested integration with 32-bit installer on a newly created project first and if this runs fine, we will try to resolve the issues with your current project.

Please share your findings. If you face any errors/issues, let us know the steps in detail.

Thanks,

Aditi

After opening the project, getting "stack overflow" error message twice, I deleted the CPD file and opened the project again. Then  I had broken links, so I closed the project, deleted the CPD file again and then opened the project. This time, there are no stack overflow messages and the links have all restored themselves.

I opened a topic, made a change to it and when I clicked the check in button, I got this error message:

RH9PushOKCheckInError.PNG

What should I do now? It doesn't seem to be working.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi Saundra

You can download the latest 32-bit PushOk SVNSCC 1.6.6.2 installer from http://www.pushok.com/files/soft/svn/1662/svnscc_1662.msi

For the SVN error, can you please check if you are using the correct SVNURL w.r.t. case-sensitivity. Such error might occur if you are specifying the URL as: svn://SVNServer/Subversionrepo
However, the repository's name was SubversionRepo.

Similarly, please check the username you are using for authentication for case-sensitiveness.

Similar problems have been discussed on various forums, for instance
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/57137/403-forbidden-error-using-subversion

If the above solution does not resolve the problem, can you please try with a new project and let us know your findings with detailed steps.

Thanks,
Aditi

Hi Aditi,

Yes, there was a problem with the permissions. After we fixed that, I continually get exclusive lock issues where I try to check in a file that is checked out exclusively but when I check it in, I get an error that says the file is not locked. I can't check the file in, I can't clear the error, I can't check the file out, I can't undo the checkout. It is a big problem. Any suggestions or ideas? I have attached an example of what is happening.

Thank you for your help.RH9PushOkLockProblem.PNG

Hi Saundra,

Please see if the solutions provided at the below threads help you.

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/127932/svn-working-copy-xxx-locked-and-cleanup-failed

http://www.svnforum.org/threads/31828-working-copy-locked-execute-cleanup

You did not mention if you tried with a new project. If not, please let us know your findings with a new project so we can isolate the issue easily.

Thanks,

Aditi

Hi. Unfortunately, those links don't help. I have determined at this point that RoboHelp 9 is making a case confusion, which makes the

file that I tried to edit different in source control than the file I saved.

The details are in this thread. I have no idea how to proceed, other than manually trying to fix each of the 3000+ files that we have.

Thanks for your support in trying to resolve this.

Hi Aditi,

We are using Robohelp 10 and have encountered all of these same RoboHelp to subversion issues, locked files, checksum mismatches, RH crashes. We are simply trying to upgrade from RH8 to RH10. If we can upgrade the project files (without getting the "locked" errors), we can typically open the project ONCE. If we check a topic out and change it, then check it in, the status still shows as "Checked Out." Then, we close the project and try to reopen. We then can either open the project again with all topics showing a "read only" or "not controlled" status, OR, we never make it past the home screen, where the status in the lower left-hand corner stays at, "Updating Version Control Status." We've tried a remote desktop help with one of your reps, but they could not solve the problem and eventually gave up. Please help. This subversion problem with Robohelp is very concerning.

We are using:

Robohelp 10 (coverting all RH8 projects to 10)

PuskOK-32-bit plugin 1.7.0 RC2

SmartSVN 7.5.2 (we also have access to TortoiseSVN 1.7.10, Build 23359)

We had to convert every file to lower case and remove all spaces in the file name. After we did that, subversion, pushok and RH played nicely.

AND, I had to uninstall Tortoise and just go with the command line for SVN.

Hi Nick,

Hope you are doing well!

I also went through the second thread related to the check-in problem but I could not reproduce the issue at my end. I can see Colum is trying to help you dig the issue, can you please confirm if version control with your svn server is working fine generally without RoboHelp in picture (asking because you mentioned RH freezes while "Querying version control status").

Also, provide svn server details if possible.

Thanks,

Aditi

Thank you for the suggestion. How do I tell which version to install? There are only 64-bit references. Which one do you suggest that I install?
