Dear,
I'm working with RoboHelp 8 and want to create a hyperlink to an external file.
But when I am in the window Hyperlink and I select 'File...' in the box 'Link to', RoboHelp freezes and I have to close the program.
In fact, with any function in RoboHelp that requires browsing in my explorer, the program crashes and I have to close it...
Can anyone help me please?
Thank you

Are you fully patched up in RH8? Is there some restrictions on browsers or the internet at your location? Can you form the link in Notepad and paste it into RH? (if so, does it work?)

I have installed the patches adobe_roboHelp_patch_8_0_1.exe and adobe_roboHelp_patch_8_0_2.exe on my computer. Are there other patches too?
I don't think there are any restrictions on browsers or the internet cause yesterday everything worked properly and I could create the hyperlink to an external file.
I don't know how to create the link in Notepad so I don't think this will work.

No I think those all of them. If it worked yesterday & today it doesn’t then something must have changed – check with your IT guys.

Hi there
When you click File from that drop-down, the next thing that *SHOULD* happen is that a dialog opens. My guess is that the dialog is off the viewable screem area.
Try this. Choose link to file, then when RoboHelp appears to have locked up, press Alt+Spacebar and release. Then tap the letter M. Then press any of the four arrow keys. Then just wiggle your mouse a bit and the hidden dialog should snap into view.
Give that a go and see how you fare.

@Rick – Ah, the old multi-monitor disappearing dialog box trick – got to remember that one ;>)

LOL, yep!
Had it happen to me a number of times this week. I was facilitating an on-site RoboHelp class and there was no projector. Instead, there was a humongous flat panel TV. Resoluton was so large that it made my computer slow down and mouse movements were herky jerky. And I could only use it effectively by making it my extended desktop. Nice problem to have, but it certainly reinforced the issue with the oddly placed dialogs!
Happy Thursday... Rick ![]()
