I created one Guide for two different groups by applying conditional build tags. As I was testing the "Search" feature, topics also displayed for the second group if it contained information related to my search.
How do I fix this? I only want topics related to the first group to show up in the Search results.

Welcome to our community
Are yuou possibly referring to the new Dynamic User Centric Content (DUCC) feature offered by RoboHelp 9?
Otherwise, If you configure a condition that removes a topic, it should not be found when you perform a search as it will not be present among the output files. End of story. If it's being found, you likely haven't applied the condition correctly or there is some other obscure action mucking things up.

I have the same problem with RH8.
The TOC contains only those books/topics that I specified with conditional build tags, but:
Links in specified topics to unspecified topics work normally.
Are these bugs in RH8?

Hi,
The TOC contains only those books/topics that I specified with conditional build tags
What exactly did you apply the conditional build tags to?
If you apply a build tag in the TOC, the topic is just excluded from the TOC, not from your output. To exclude the topic itself, you need to apply a conditional build tag to the topic. Open topic properties, go to the tab Advanced and add the relevant Topic-level tags. The topics will now be excluded as per your setting in the SSL.

I applied the tag in the TOC pod.
I have over 300 topics - do I have to apply the tag one-at-a-time? That could take hours!
And what will happen to hyperlinks that link from a published topic to an unpublished topic?
Thanks.

Hi,
You can select multiple topics in the Topic list pod. Just right click your selection to open the properties tab. You then apply build tags to multiple topics at once.
Hyperlinks to topics that are excluded are converted to plain text in your output. TOC entries to topics that are excluded will automatically be excluded from the TOC. Index entries and see also keywords are also excluded. If you have text links in your topics that you do not want to end up in your output, you can apply build tags to those texts.

Thanks for all your help, William.
To conclude, if I understand correctly, I have to apply the tag at both the TOC and topic level. The TOC is easy to identify as RH colors each specified book/topic with crossout lines. Specified topics are harder to ID as you have to go in the the properties of each to see if a tag has been applied.
Thanks again.

Hi,
You understand correctly. Only note that you need to apply the build tags to the TOC only if you want to exclude a topic from the TOC or if you use it as a reference marker to see which tags are applied to the topic.

You can see the same RH colors for all topics that have a conditional build tag against them at the topic level. These are displayed in the Project Manager pod. You can also customise the Topic List pod to display the "Topic Build Tag" column. Just right click on any column header in this pod to include it.

Hi there
Hopefully Willam won't mind my offering a bit of a clarification here.
...To conclude, if I understand correctly, I have to apply the tag at both the TOC and topic level...
Willam is correct in what was stated, but what may be easily missed here is this.
Perhaps you ignore the TOC and any ability to tag items. Only apply tags at the TOPIC level. Because the topics are excluded, they WILL NOT appear in the TOC because they simply aren't there.
I see many folks getting all caught up in tagging the TOC. I've never tagged the TOC myself. I always tag the topics and the TOC presents as I want.
