Hello,
I have a an old and big (about 300 topics) Robohelp for Word project, which was used to create Winhelp files with Robohelp version 5x.
Now I want to upgrade to Robohelp 10 and create Winhelp aswell as Html helpfiles. Is there any chance I can use the old project with the new version?
I already tried to open it with the new version of Robohelp for Word but the generated helpfiles were corrupt. I also tried to import the Word file and the Winhelp file but it didnt work either.
And is it possible to use any of these files to create a new Html project with Robohelp 10?
I'm thankful for any tips.
Johann

Hi Johann,
It should be possible. However, depending on whether the RH4Word project predates RH X5 and how far back, you may have some bad codes that are causing the corruption. Are you familiar with the RH4Word WinHelp codes? The answer will affect the approach that I suggest.

Neil

Hi Neil,
sorry for my absence - I got sick last week...
I'm not really familiar with the code, but I'm working on that. I already noticed that I get a better result when I dont use WYSIWYG mode.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Regards,
Johann

The easiest solution, if it works, is to try to export
the RH4Word project out to Word and then import that
Word document back into RH10. Note that when I refer
to the "Word document", I'm referring to the Word
document created from RH4Word, NOT your original Word
document. Let me know if that's actually what you
meant. If it isn't, give it a try and let me know
the result.

It sounds like I have the same or a similar problem (see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1149997?tstart=0) - I'm importing a RH4Word project into RoboHelp 10 and getting corruption in the generated HTML. What is the RH4Word WinHelp code solution?

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear... I'm guessing
that there's something in the RH4Word codes (in the
headers and footnotes) that's causing problems in
RH10. My suggestion is to create a pure Word version
of the RH4Word project, stripping out the header and
footnote codes, and try importing that pure Word document
back into RH10.

for years and could probably fix this for you on a
project basis if you wanted to go that route.
