Upgrade to newer version?

New Here ,
Jun 10, 2009 Jun 10, 2009

Hi everyone

as some of you already know (thx for answering my questions - love you guys) I'm making a website with Robohelp Office.

Now I was wondering wether it would do me any good to upgrade to a different version of Robohelp?

Does it make creating websites easier?

Is it beneficial to invest the time in getting to know the new features?

And which Robohelp version would you recommend then?

I know it's a bit of a weird question, since Robohelp shouldn't be used to make websites in the first place (yes, I know) but please bare with me...

thanks in advance for your help, hope to hear from you soon!

greets,

c4b

Hi there

Personally, I see nothing wrong with using RoboHelp to create a Web Site. After all, my RoboWizard site was done with WebHelp!

I might suggest you investigate the latest version of RoboHelp for a few different reasons.

  • Latest versions should handle the newer browsers more easily.
  • Latest versions offer new and more efficient ways of working with your information.
  • Latest versions offer better ongoing support if you encounter issues.

I know it's all great to spout that one should always use the latest version. I'm also realistic and realize that not everyone has it in the ole budget to support that.

Hopefully this helps... Rick

So you're actually saying I could just stick with the old version and it wouldn't make any REAL difference (expect for a major drainage of my budget)?

Don't know if I should be happy or sad... >.<

Hi again

No, I wasn't saying that exactly. Older versions have no clue about recent browser changes that newer versions do. So you may find yourself struggling with certain things from the browser perspective.

Cheers... Rick

Hi

thanks for your patient reply.

I have been searching the internet for the features of the different RoboHelp versions, and I've decided I'm going to sit this one out.

I don't think it would be worth while to pay an extra few hundreds for just a few extra features I won't be using anyway. Won't get that sold to my boss either >.<

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with you, having the most recent version of a program definitely has a lot of benefits, but I have to have a reasonable excuse to upgrade, and since my boss doesn't know all that much about websites, I'm affraid he won't find compatibility with the newest browsers a reasonable argumentation.

But thanks anyway, your reply has been a real help

greets,
