Viewing mid-topic ids

New Here ,

I used to be able to view mid-topic ids by "waving" my cursor over the # sign... now, nothing happens, but i know that the mid-topic exists. Is there some sort of setting that i've somehow messed up?

Have you clicked in the topic before hovering the mouse? It only works if Word has focus.

Thanks for the suggestion, and I have, in fact, tried this. What is specifically happening when I hover my mouse, is a very small, totally blank, white popup flashes. So it is like it is trying to display, but it can't. This happens on all my projects and documents.

In that case I don't know the answer for sure. Perhaps a Word patch got it? An uninstall and reinstall would probably fix it although can't guarantee that.
