wh2robo.dll error received on running Winhelp 4 file

New Here ,
Mar 25, 2009 Mar 25, 2009
A colleague is experiencing a problem with his help file. On launching the Winhelp 4 compiled file, this message appears. Cannot find or load the file wh2robo.dll. This does not happen on my machine or the other help author, but it does on others. The message then goes away and a second error message displays: An error exists in this help file. Contact vendor for an updated help file (1024).

The file displays, but with these errors.

Any help is appreciated.

May memory of RH for Word is getting more sketchy by the day but I don't rememebr this file being part of the Ship List report and therefore requiring inclusion with the application. Out of interest, are the PCs wit the problems used by users or other authors with RH for Word installed? Do they have the wh2robo.dll file anywhere?

Hi all

In addition to what Colum suggested it would seem to make logical sense that this DLL may be used when converting WinHelp files to RoboHelp projects?

Is it possible that the colleague is using RoboHelp itself to try and open the HLP file? (as opposed to just launching it from Windows Explorer)

I'm thinking that another remote possibility would be the ActiveEdit feature (like Colum, drawing from very distant memory here).

Cheers... Rick

I have wh2robo.dll in my RoboX5 Programs Files folder and also in the folder of my last WinHelp project. I can't remember now whether it would have been copied across automatically. If any help, I will open up the project and investigate?

Thanks for the replies. I think it either has to do with Office 2007, which my colleague has and I do not, or it is somehow related to a previous version of Robohelp (perhaps X5).

If I build using his files, the file I build has the same problem. But when I did a file from scratch and put the same content in, the problem did not occur.

I am still on Office 2003 and he had a previous version of Robohelp, but I did not.

We're still trying to track it down.

Thanks,
Tom

I am on RHX5, Word 2003.

wh2robo.dll appears in two different Program Files folders on my PC (standalone): one is the RoboHelp folder; the other is a project app folder in which, uniquely, I prepared the Helpfile (otherwise I worked within a specific project folder within the relevant Client's folder eslsewhere).

The two files are themselves different. The RH file is noted as, yes, an Active Edit file, Macromedia, 76Kb and dated 25/03/2004. The app file has no accreditation, is logged at 40Kb and bears the same date as does the final build of the relevant Helpfile.

No others of my archived project files contains wh2robo.dll. It isn't on the Ship List for WinHelp 4 (nice and short: *.hlp and *.cnt only).

You don't say whether either you or your colleague has wh2robo.dll; if so, where; and which RH version you are each using. Perhaps you could let us know?

Brian

On my machine, I have one copy of wh2robo.dll located in c:\program files\adobe\adobe robohelp 7\robohelp\. I have RH 7.03.001.

My colleague has it in the same folder and in two client folders on his machine.

He was able to use a different machine and do the build, which eliminated the problem. The new machine also has it only in the same folder.
