What is the RHframeStyleMappings.apj file in a RH project?

There's something wrong with the RHframeStyleMappings.apj file in my RH7 project which prevents RH8 from upgrading that project to 8. Can anybody start by telling me the purpose of that file, and maybe the contents of yours? (My RHframeStyleMappings.apj exists but is blank.) Any tips?

Your root problem is you cannot upgrade a project and we now have three threads covering it. This makes it very difficult for anyone trying to help you.

Here is what is in the file in a new project I created to ensure the file is clean.

<rhpml majorversion="2" minorversion="0">
    <stylemappings/>
    <styleproperties/>
</rhpml>

It is used when importing or linking to FrameMaker files.
