We're trying to install RoboHelp 7 Server.
The instructions mentions running a configuration manager. It even says that Configuration
Manager will start automatically after the installation completes.
It never does.
So where is it?
I assume we need this to configure our database since we're using SQL and
not Access (among other things).
Thanks
Doug

Hi, Doug. The Adobe RoboHelp Server 7 should have its own Start > Programs Folder after installation. It's a fairly small application and easy to miss. Since I am running RH Server 8 now, I no longer have it on my machines.
When you start Configuration Manager (v7), you can select and connect to a different ODBC database (like SQL) instead of the Access DB which is default. You can also change the order of the projects to determine the order you want them to display, unless you are using the Merging projects option. You can also schedule times for scanning PDFs, Word docs, and other non-HTML documents so that they show up in the search results.
This whole concept has changed a lot (way for the better
in RoboHelp Server 8) Hope you'll be able to shift over someday. Complete new re-write of the code and much nicer to administer.
Thanks
john

Hey Doug
Next time around please avoid using attachments. Instead, use the camera icon just above where you type into the post.
Attachments frequently get stuck in a queued status and we aren't able to see them.

Hi, Doug.
This screenshot is the Program folder I was referring to (using the camera icon Rick referred to):

It is completely separate from the Program folder in your screenshot which is for the authoring client as opposed to the server. Are you sure you are looking at the desktop of the actual server machine where Adobe RoboHelp Server 7 has been installed? That's where Configuration Manager would be. If you are looking at it from the author's desktop, you normally will not find it. During installation on the actual server machine, there will be an icon placed on the desktop that says "Configuration Manager." I'm sorry, I can't remember the executable name to do a search (configmgr.exe?)
You might look in Program Files along this path for it (on the server machine)
C:\Program Files\Adobe\RoboHelp Server 7
Another thing occurs to me. You must have a separate CD/DVD with the RH Server 7 application. In other words, installation of the server app is not part of the authoring client installation process. It is separate. Normally, the server machine does not have the authoring application unless the author is testing locally. For example, I installed it on my laptop for testing using http://localhost with IIS before installing on a "real" server machine.
Let me know if this turns on any lights! ![]()
Thanks,
john
