Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue with bullet lists?

First off, RoboHelp 8.0.2.208, and RoboHTML

When creating topics in the editor, using the toolbar to create the bulleted lists (no special styles, no funny images, etc.) and bulleted lists appear fine within the editor. They also appear fine in the preview. However, when WebHelp is generated and viewed in IE8, the bullets are not displayed in the outout. When I check the topic's source code, the HTML markup looks fine. All the <ul> and <li> and /<li> and </ul> tags are in place and as they should be.

Here's the other thing... Just for fun, we generated a CHM file, and the bullets display in that output without issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

James

Hi,

Does your CSS have any styling for ul and li? Is this project that you upgraded to RH8 from a prior version of RoboHelp? If so, you may be experiencing the list problem: http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/lists/lists.htm

RoboAsh,

No, we have no master pages applied. We do have a CSS applied, but the only style applied is "style=disc" and the disc appears in the editor and in print preview, but not in the generated output.

Thanks,

James

Hi Jeff,

Good suggestion but we are restricted to IE, so we are not able to test on alternate browsers...

Thanks,

Hi There, you need to try upgrading Rh 8 to the latest version by clicking on Help --> updates. Also try to use the same bullets in a test project and see if the issue is repeated there.

Hi Anjali,

We are up to date on our RH8 updates, and we are trying to rule out some style sheet issues or workstation specific issues by testing the project on another workstation. We have noticed that it anly seems to affect topics that were edited in this revision. Topics that were untouched appear to be functioning normally.

Thanks,

James

Hi William,

You may be on to something here. We do have a UL style of "style=disc"applied. Also, it is a legacy project that has been through every RH revision since the old e-help 9.0 version. I am looking into the infor you referenced, and I will respond back to let you know how we fare...

Thanks,

James

Hi again, Willam,

You were correct, it was the "list problem" you referenced in your original reply. I was able to go into Tool>Options and select the "convert edited topics to HTML option" which fixed the rendering issue. Many thanks...
