I'm breaking out a very large project into smaller projects. When I import files that have mapID's assigned they are all gone from the context sensitive help file. We have the clear cpd file enabled would that be causing any issues?

I'm not sure without checking that the map ids will import. However, I can say it will not be anything to do with deleting the CPD file.

It's worth noting that when you use the RoboHelp Edit Map IDs dialog to map topics, what you are actually doing is to modify the contents of a small text file that stores the association between the topic and the ID number. To my knowledge, nothing whatsoever is changed in the topic itself.

So if you take that topic and import it into a different project, how is the destination project supposed to be aware of the mapping?

Have you tried importing the Map file into the project? Perhaps that's your answer.

Cheers... Rick

And if your topic structure is the same, you can also overwrite the *.ali file in the project. That will restore the link between map numbers and topics.
