My management may not renew my RoboHelp license. They do support InDesign and Dreamweaver. Is there a way to transition my RoboHelp projects to either of those products? If so, how difficult or time consuming is it?
Well, first, sorry to hear that …
So, all the RoboHelp topics are HTML files. You can simply open them in Dreamweaver as well and continue to work there. However, you will loose all the additional functionalities you get with RoboHelp for authoring and publishing. RoboHelp comes with comprehensive publishing options to create complete help portals with a search engine, chatbot support, responsive design that works on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices, PDF output, and so much more. Rebuilding that with Dreamweaver is – in theory – possible. And if your management has deep pockets and a lot of time to invest into rebuilding all of that from the scratch (at least for the published output), it might be possible to get at least somewhere close. However, all the additional features for you as an author – you would still loose that.
I doubt that saving the few dollar associated with a monthly RoboHelp license (which is probably smaller than your monthly phone bill) are worth the effort 😉
Clearly, your management doesn't value your time 🤣 - because you're in for a world of pain (aka time-consuming) trying to convert your content to ID or DW as Stefan says.
