Responsive HTML5 seems to be building a TOC with a 'bc-#' at the end of bookmarked locations causing them to fail. Can this be avoided?

RoboHelp11 is generating a TOC where locations of the form  xxxx.htm#aaa have a 'bc-' and a trailing number appended.  The same location as a link in the text does not.

Presumably there is some setting that causes this.  How can I turn off this appending?

What is the failure you are experiencing?

The #bc-# are appended when a topic is used in the TOC multiple times. RH uses this to know which breadcrumbs it needs to show. To avoid this, use snippets instead of adding the topic to the TOC multiple times.

Thanks for responding Mr vanWeelden,

The problem may be with FireFox (which I am required to use).

For example, here is a (cropped) screen capture of a page,

Clicking on the 'Dialog Controls Panel' from either link on the document

will send me to the correct page.

Clicking on the TOC entry however, does nothing.  We remain on this page.

Looking at the URL it uses

/etms/help/tsd/tsd_help.htm#t=tsd_utilities%2FRouteAmendmentHelp.htm%23Dialog_Controls_Panelbc-4&rhtocid=5.1.0_4

shows the #bc=4" append -- which evidently Firefox has an issue with

(using the preview with IE, it works OK).

If I shorten the URL to

/etms/help/tsd/tsd_help.htm#t=tsd_utilities%2FRouteAmendmentHelp.htm%23Dialog_Controls_Panel

which is, of course,

/etms/help/tsd/tsd_help.htm#t=tsd_utilities/FRouteAmendmentHelp.htm#Dialog_Controls_Panel

then it goes to the correct link.

I'm not sure that snippets will work for me as these are actually full

topics in their own right; although, that may

simply be my unfamiliarity with their use.

Is there any way to turn off the generation of breadcrumbs (assuming that

it would stop the generation of this in the URL)?

In any case thanks for your assistance,

Do the shortened URLs work ok if you leave the TOC-id intact?

Does this only happen when you link the TOC to a bookmark in the page?

Kind regards,

The shortened URL work OK if I just remove the #bc-# portion and leave the TOC-id in place.

Seems to only be a problem if the TOC is linked to a bookmark - the topic head works OK

Poked about and found that the unshortened URL will send the page to the top of the topic rather than to the bookmark.

Interesting.
