Adobe Stock Algorithms

I know that no one knows about Adobe Stock's algorithm. But I have some guesses. I request that our community experts add something and correct me if I am wrong.

I believe that when a new contributor uploads an image to his portfolio, Adobe Stock's algorithm shows that image to some people. And if it gets some sales, Adobe Stock continues showing it to others, but for a limited time so as to give chance to the other assets of different contributors. And if the image doesn't go well, Adobe Stock just limits the visibility of that asset for a limited time. Actually, I believe that because, as I remember, I read one of the community experts say that he had an image in his portfolio for three years and it didn't go well, but after that much time, it started having sales again. I think he was  @Jill_C

Bonus Question. What's the maximum number of downloads you've received for a single image so far?
Mine: 78( Am a newbie) 😊

Adobe Stock is a bit like a retail store.  The most popular items get the premium shelf space and displayed towards the front of the store.  Less popular items get lower shelf space in back of the store.  Visibility isn't just about sales though. Other factors like season, title, keywords & description play an important part, too.  In other words, do your job right and let the chips will fall where they may. Don't try to game the system.  It won't work.

From time to time, I do get sales for older previously unsold images, but I think it's more a matter of a Buyer searching on the exact keywords that I had entered and finding a good match in the first few pages of the results. Buyers who may be looking for an asset that hasn't been sold before can choose the Filter "Undiscovered Content" if they want to find something unique.

By the way, I'm a "she", not a "he".

I have a handful of images that have been licensed more than 100 times, the most being 206 times.

Just a tipp, as google is invented: when you get first names, check them with Google, if you don't know if they are male or female. You can't know with my screen name or we can't know with yours, but I was never in doubt with Jill's. 😉

That's not how it works. Nobody exactly knows how it really works.

This is how I would do it:

Everybody gets a rank. The rank is your multiplier. The rank is based on your recent number of sales and the recent number of accepted assets.

Every asset gets a rank based on your rank and the number of (recent) sales and the age of the asset, and perhaps the favourite saves.

A user asks for an asset. The keywords they entered will be mapped to your assets according to the keyword importance, together with your image rank and some randomness. This would ensure that every asset will get a chance to be on page one if the keyword is correct.

So your best chance to get to page one is having the right keywords and a top rank. Even a top rank and the wrong keywords should not show your assets.

So does it prove that the acceptance rate also play a big role on the visibilty of your other images?

I didn't say that. I said that newer assets have a higher chance to be shown to potential buyers than the same assets at a later stage. At a later stage, the number of sales is more dominant. But wee all experienced having a very new asset getting a sale or two, and similar assets being longer available not getting chosen.

We all experienced also that sometimes an old asset gets selected, and after that initial selection, it makes additional sales.
