I normally only submit 5-10 photos at a time for review and usually wait for approvals before I submit more. This last week though, I submitted a batch of landscape photos and then a couple of days later submitted photos from a different shoot with models and signed model releases. The batch with people in the photos were reviewed before my landscape photos. I had always assumed that photos would be reviewed first in first out, but it appears that priority was given to photos with people and signed release forms (I assume because these images tend to sell better.) I was just wondering if anyone else ever had the same experience.
I'm not aware of such prioritization, since I don't often post images with people and model releases. However, I can imagine that there is a different queue for "people images" since the Moderator also needs to review the Model Release as well as the technical qualities of the image.

Hi Rob,
I haven't experienced this, as I do as you do normally, and I am a rather infrequent submitter. But I have seen in a batch of submission from the same day sometimes different waiting times.
I explained those with doubts that the initial moderator had around either the need for a model release or a property release, or some other problem with the file that would need clarification prior to a decision.
But yes, model releases need a special treatment, as they need to get checked first for accuracy. And that needs to be in the language of the release. I, however, do not think that the same person approving the model release will check the photos necessarily. However, there may be a fast track for those files after MR-approval, which may be got your second batch bypassing the waiting queue for your first batch. It may also well be, that people photography gets a preferred treatment, because, as you said, they sell better than other shoots. And landscapes are probably abundantly submitted.
