Feedback for rejected photo

hi,

these two images have been rejected due to technical issues but they were accepted on shutterstock. Does anyone know why?

Both images have very noticeable focus problems and would not be suitable for commercial print.

you're right the photo with the ring was definitely out of focus but in the photo with the cat I think sony's animal eye AF worked fine 🤔 Thank you for the answer!

Examine images at 100-300% magnification to show defects.

Hi @fablerin ,

Too much of both images are out of focus. You should have the entire hand in focus. The entire cat should be in focus. This is not the case. The eyes could be sharper. Also there is color fringing along the edge of the back leg.

Do you mind if I ask how to get everything in focus? For animals and objects in motion, I have been under impression that as long as the eyes are in focus the photo will be fine. Since the back of the cat falls under different focal length than the eyes (front) the camera only can focus on either of them. Focus stacking won't work unless the subject is stationary. So what would be the solution here?

Shooting with a smaller aperture like f8 or f16 instead of f1.8 will produce a larger depth of field.

You are right but having an aperture smaller probably won't produce the ذokeh background especially here that the subject is a portrait.

If desired,  a subtle backbround blur can be applied to select areas with Photoshop in post.

Hi @Gentle.Cam,

Capturing your subject within its environment is not such a bad idea as long as it is sharp enough so that those who do not want the background can crop the subject out. It adds more story to your file and gives your photo greater potential for more sale.

Photoshop has very good cropping tools that can remove sharp subjects from their background.

To get moving objects to freeze you need fast shutter speed. If the condition is right and depending on the speed of motion, between 500 and 1,000 will work with a burst of shots that will freeze a few or at least one. You can learn more from LinkedIn Learning.

Focus. The ring may also be an IP issue. It is the main subject. As a design, it belongs to someone.

In addition to the image blur, the model's chipped nail polish makes it unlikely that this image would be sold.
