Forget what all the scammy YouTubers are saying about Adobe Stock being a get-rich-quick scheme. It's not. They're only saying that to draw more attention to their YouTube channel from which they earn ad revenue.. Forget what all the scammy YouTubers are saying about Adobe Stock being a get-rich-quick scheme. It's not. They're only saying that to draw more attention to their YouTube channel from which they earn ad revenue.. You need thousands of high quality, unique and desirable assets with thorough, useful titles and keywords in your portfolio to earn even a modest income stream. Search the Buyer portal for images in the same keyword categories as yours. If the search returns thousands of hits, and you don't see yours in the first 2-3 pages, yours will never be sold. Look for more unique, underrepresented topics. Find a niche that no one else is doing. Also look at the Insights and Artist Hub on your Dashboard page for the types of images that are selling.

@Jill_C I think you nailed it!  This is my issue in general with influencers.  Sometimes they sell a dream that might not realistically exist for views or other monetary gain.

My ultimate pet peeve is watching cooking shows where the oven isn't on.  I jump and down and point every time.  It's sort of funny and it's become a "thing" at my house, but also really grinds my gears.

Indeed, the YouTube scammers who claim that you can get rich creating and selling Gen AI images should show their sales history to prove that they have first hand experience and can validate their claims. Next time I watch a cooking show you can bet I'll be looking at the oven 🙂

Some have nice sales, but then get blocked during their stay here, because they violated one or more rules and have more returns than anything else. At least one of the AI contributors, participating from time to time here, has this problem. According to him, he has a 60,000 assets portfolio, with some of the assets violating the rules.

I answered a very similar question just this morning on another post.  Here is what I said:

"Thats not really the way stock works, just to be honest. My current best selling image went unsold for years. You should anticipate a lot of work upfront without any immediate gains."

I hope you make some sales!  But also, buckle in for the long haul.

Your expectations are too high.  At most, Stock is a passive second or third income that you can work on in your free time.  After a year or so, it will afford you some extra spending money but that's all.

If you're not making enough, you need to find a real job that pays you a steady income.

So, you're new to Adobe Stock - it's not a get-rich-quick-scheme!

Just bear in mind all that glitters is not gold! I think stock photography might fall into this!

Happy New Year!!

I'm 7 years on stock, I have high quality pictures and not enough income. But, I would need to upload 10 to 100 times my current portfolio, to have 20 to 200 times my income. Stock is about 3 things:

  • High demand assets (sunsets and flowers do not sell).
  • A huge portfolio
  • Regular updates with high demand assets.

If you do not have that, you need to do like me: enjoy the pocket money that comes in.

As I mentioned above, look at the Insights and Artist Hub tabs on your Dashboard page to get an idea of what is currently selling and in demand.

Insights tells you what type of contributors are selling well. If you look at their portfolio, you can see what type of content they are providing.

Calls for content are items that Adobe feels are missing in the database and are in high demand. Adobe can analyze the search terms of the buyers and the surfing habit. They can also do tests with selected customers. Providing those items will get you a better position in the search engine and provide high sales.
