Such photos should be taken with a suitable lens, such as a macro, for good quality. The top petal is cut off and the background is not nice.

What is the reason for rejection?

It is a nice shot. However, in the future include the tips of the petal to capture the complete flowers or zoom in more on the part you make the subject. If you find it difficult getting good focus zooming in on the subject matter, then capturing the entire flowers would make a better composition.

The photo is not completely sharp and needs more contrast.

Thank you for the feedback, it was rejected for technical issues.  I thought perhaps the background was unpleasing.

While we try to minimize busy backgrounds. It's not necessary to remove subjects from it's background. It's time consuming, and if not done seamlessly creates technical issue causing rejection. Besides your photos tell story and by removing the background you remove parts of the story. A customer can clearly see that your original shot is an outdoor potted plant by a wooden picketing fence that you took the shot from above including some leaves and the ground in view.(All in bold are a few of the many tag words you cannot use after cropping out the flowers). So you see removing the background might not be a very good idea since it deprive you of maximizing search words - search words that will take your flowers to categories other than "flowers" and that will help your file to move up the search engine.

Are you sure a customer will not buy your image for its background? Why limit your image to one subject when there is the potential for multiple subjects? The whole idea is to make your subject stand out. I could identify the subject of your shot. It is expected that many of your outdoor shot's background will not be pleasing.

I suggest you remove the man made objects (fence and wood) and do some sharpening.

The composition needs to improve. The background isn't good, so you need to think more about composition. Flower photos are extremely popular and they need to stand out from the crowd - have that WOW factor. I would avoid uploading flower pics and very general subjects.
