The elephant image, in addition to being very blurry, has a border around it - looks like you scanned and then didn't crop ...

Dear Jill, Yes, i scanned the photo taken by my grandfather and uploaded. He has a good collection of photos. Any suggestion to retain the quality while scanning thro a mobile ? Thanks for your inputs. Regards,GT

You will need a specialist photo scanner, I should say. Photographing old photos with a mobile isn't going to produce world class commercial photography. But I'm not sure your grandfather's wonderful photos will meet the grade if these are hobby photographs.

Hi, He was a professional Industrial Photographer. He has lots of transparencies. Some he has converted as photos. Those only I tried to scan. As you suggest, may be will try to scan using quality scanner. Regards, GT

@Thilakavathy5CFA I think it's wonderful that you are trying to resurrect your grandfather's images. If they are transparencies you have many considerations. Are they 35mm slides? Or a larger format? Kodachrome or Fuji? Depending on how old they are, film degrades over time if they weren't kept in pristine archival storage sleeves and boxes. Also, if they were presented in slide shows repeatedly, sometimes damage can happen from the light, trays, and the handling. Cleaning the film will depend on inspecting them for dirt, fingerprints, and scratches. Any oil transferred from fingers can ruin the emulsion side. I would recommend sending these out to a specialized lab for scanning. You probably won't get good results by scanning the prints unless they are exceptionally made. Once digitized, you still need to do post production work in Photoshop to enhance the images and bring out their best. Good luck!
