Should these images be labeled as photos or illustrations?

Hello, I was uploading all my AI assets as illustrations, but I also included ones that give the impression of being shot from a camera angle. Could this cause any issues? For example, can you tell me whether these images should be labeled as illustrations or photos?

There are about 2000 assets like this that I didn’t tag as 'photo' and left under 'illustration.' Could this cause any problems? Because, they’re not illustrations. Should I delete all of them?

When submitting AI-generated images to Adobe Stock, the classification typically depends on the visual style and content of the image:

  • Photo: If the AI-generated image closely resembles a realistic photograph, with details and elements that mimic what would be captured by a camera, it should be listed as a "photo."

  • Illustration: If the image leans more toward artistic or imaginative expressions, such as fantastical themes, surreal designs, or elements that don’t exist in reality, it would fa

What @RALPH_L. When in doubt, I choose Illustrations. Marking AI assets was REQUIRED when Adobe first began accepting AI, so you really can't go wrong when you select Illustrations.

Adobe Stock also requires contributors to disclose that their content was created with generative AI tools to maintain transparency.

Submit files as photos that look like they could have been taken with a camera and feature photo-realistic subjects that exist in real life and respect human and animal anatomy. Submit all other generative AI images as illustrations.

Why use the past tense? Marking as generative AI is required, by ticking the "generative AI" flag.

"Why use the past tense?"

Because I just woke up? 🙂 Yes, it is still required. Frankly, I wish the drop-down didn't even default to Photographs and simply didn't allow uploads until one or the other was selected.

There is no penalty for labeling AI images as illustrations; however submitting AI illustration under file type photos can result in a rejection if the Moderator concludes that it is not photo-realistic.

But there is no penalty for the existing stuff, and especially not for stuff submitted under the Illustration label.
