I sold a photo several days ago that hadn't been purchased at all since it was uploaded several years ago. Suddenly, over the past few days, that same photo has been purchased several times. Can anyone explain what might cause this sudden spurt in interest? Thanks for anything you can suggest.

The purchased image has been moved up in the search algorithm. One of my most popular assets has been sold 151 times over the past year or so. If I stopped submitting assets today, I could probably sit back and acquire a fair amount of sales on previously sold assets alone. At least for a while. Even the most popular assets reach a saturation point.

I call that fortuitous. Your unsold image rose to the top of somebody's filtered search results. And fortunately for you, they purchased a license for it.
This had a snowball effect of driving more traffic to your image. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
