Nice. I think the photo was  refused mainly due to focus. The depth of field is too shallow.

Also parts of the stem and leaves are underexposed.

zoom in to 100% and you'll see the focus issues that Ralph noted. The table top looks quite noisy and there is a blownout hotpot. In addition, there are distracting elements in the frame - the edge of the table on the right, and some shadowy objects in the background. To properly achieve the isolation effect you were attempting you could have used a black background. I use black poster board or black paper.
