vector sets Background

I have a question about vector sets. I use Adobe Illustrator ..... should I leave them with a transparent background, or is it okay to use a white background? Or are both options acceptable? I plan to upload many files, so I want to be sure without increasing my rejection rate

If you look at current Stock inventory, most vector icon sets have white backgrounds.  It's better for presentation.

But either one is probably OK.
