Both of the illustrations have messy edges, including some splotches on the canvas outside the image. The plant images are poorly composed and focused and over-exposed.

Yes, you should use Illustrator for illustrations. It's better and Illustrator has advantages for vector art over Photoshop.

You really should train your Photoshop skills or do your artwork right in Adobe Illustrator or similar:
