Why might my photo be considered a copyright infringement?

Hello,

I recently submitted a photo of a lake shore that contains no identifiable objects, buildings, or other copyrighted elements. However, the photo was rejected due to a copyright infringement issue.

I carefully reviewed the content and ensured that it was entirely original, taken by me, and does not include any trademarks, recognizable private property, or other restricted elements. Could someone clarify why this might have been rejected and how I can address this issue?

I would appreciate any guidance or explanation.

Thank you in advance!

I think you meant Intellectual Property rejection, not copyright. That's 2 entirely different subjects. The IP rejection was due to the identifying marks on the boat.

The name on the boat and motor are not allowed. They are registered trademarks.

..Meaning this specifically:

These are protected by IP - Intellectual Property!

'...include any trademarks,...' it does!

Brand names & logos are protected property.  You can't use them for commercial purposes without obtaining a signed-property release from the entity that owns the brand.  That's unlikely.

Plan B:  Erase boats and/or branding with Photoshop.  Fix the image quality & technical issues. Then resubmit the image to Stock.

This is a translation issue. OP is German speaking an has probably translated on the fly. The corresponding refusal reason is "ABLEHNUNG ZUM SCHUTZ GEISTIGEN EIGENTUMS" which is indeed IP rejection. But this terminology is also being used with copyright related themes. The correct German word for copyright would be "Urheberrecht", which is a sub-form of intellectual property.

You're welcome. Sorry for the last bit of German, I just continued to write in German, after the "Urheberrecht". 😂

It has been rejected for IP reasons, because of the markings on the boat(s). Indeed, any logo, tradename, and other elements like name plates, ID numbers etc will trigger this rejection. However, the asset also shows some quality issues, that will need to be addressed, after having edited out the identifiers. I did take only a fast look at the asset, but I think, you have a white balance issue, chromatic aberration in the corners and probably some other issues.

You can resubmit after addressing the issues.
