Hello,

Well... your pics are a bit too dark as well as not being very sharp especially in the eyes. DOF may have been an issue. If you use a telephoto lens, the DOF narrows a lot. It's important to get the head sharp - in most cases.

I do use a AF-S 70/300 1:45-56 Nikkor with in 50 inches, so not much room DOF. may have to try AF-S 18-105 nikkor 1:35-56G

The first photo is poorly focused and the light areas have too few details. The woodpecker is too dark and unfortunately the head is out of focus. There is also color noise in the dark areas.

I will have to make the adjustment's to make the transition, for the light fall, and black background. Sharp focus on eye 👁  would have  helped .Thank you.

"Technical reasons" always means your image is not technically perfect - from exposure to focus, from artefacts to poor composition, like non-level horizon.  It's a different rejection if Adobe think it is unsuitable or unsaleable. There is not yet a "we have too many of this kind of picture", but it is only a matter of time for cats and flowers....

All hit the mark as correct, I have done some checking, and had three accepted since thankyou all. It seems we get into I like my picture flause and all and over look errors:( So discipline is the order of the day:)
