I like the top one better but don't see a problem with content as such... what was the reason given?

The bottom shot was rejected for lack of aesthetic or commercial appeal.

Perhaps the top one tells a more complete story? The bottom one seems a bit plain, the bomb graphics are less interesting, and it keeps drawing my eye off the bottom corner rather than into the photo.
