Why do I need a model release to add to images of famous persons - musicians, actors, politicians etc

Because you can´t upload editorial content to Fotolia or Adobe Stock, so you need for every identifyable person in your picture a model release.

Adobe Stock offers editorial images, but these can only be uploaded by selected contributors.

I understand why public figures would prefer to control the quality of their images. So why am I asked for a model release for a picture I PAINTED digitally without any model? I own my creation and offer it for sale on Adobe Stock. Anybody know.

For your own artwork you have to add a property release, as proof of you as the owner of all rights. If a person is recognizable/identifiable in the picture/artwork, you must add a model release.

Use mathematical formula. Suppose If you are a famous person.  Now if any one wants to use your photo there are two ways A. commercial B. For news magazines.

Now some one painted your portrait and start selling it to companies and companies start using that portrait of your's in their advertisement. What will you do. Won't you ask for royalty because your face is being used because you are a celebrity.
