Which Model Release should be used for a photo of a child who is now an adult?

I am editing previous photos of my children when they were children but are now adults. Should I be using the minor model release and sign as their parent/guardian for that date or should I do an adult model release and have them sign as the model themselves?

My understanding is that your children need to sign their release as they are now responsible for their own image.
