Hello,

Happy newy year everybody !... I upload my works shutterstock and adobe stock. Before when i was use AI CC2019 when i resize my artwork then save my artwork  .EPS file format i will se resloution what i set. But last week i update AI CC 2020 then something i did maybe and i set artboard wrong ? But when i changed artboard size then saved .EPS file resolution almost didn't changed. For example now i try 2820 x 2820 mm artboard size, after .EPS save i see file resolution is 1551 x 1641 pixel ! But i was opened this documend A3 size and first time i saved .EPS file resolution is 420x297 mm. and 1191 x 853 pixel !? Why not changed triple 2 or more this .EPS file resolution ?AffinityForum-AItoEPS-resolution-2019-12-30_194353.jpg

If it's a vector file, resolution doesn't matter. Also dimensions don't matter.

Also EPS doesn't matter anymore. It's last century's file format.

I don't wuite understand what ou are doing there. You save a file that has specific dimensions. And then you do what? Open the file again in Illustrator?

Okay , i know that but why Adobe tell that us then ?

Adobe Stock doesn't seem to recognise the size of the artboard (5000px, 3000px) in my EPS file, and it's not letting me upload my work. The error message reads: " Artboard size must be between 15 MP and 68 MP.

-

I saw here didn't write megabyte , mega pixel and this is a vector .EPS file ?! Where is the logical explain now ? When i upload my .eps file i see this warning and not accept. This is why happend ?

Please refer to the Adobe Stock forum, because in the Illustrator forum we don't know their criteria: https://community.adobe.com/t5/stock/bd-p/stock?page=1&sort=relevance&filter=all

Have you tried uploading AI files to Adobe Stock?

I have seen such a lot of AI files offered for download there so it should be possible to upload them.

"Resolution" is given in ppi (pixels per inch). What you are looking at is not called resolution, it's just an image size. Now, Illustrator doesn't work in pixels, it never has. But, you might reasonably say, it let me choose a size in pixels. The simple answer is that Illustrator has always taken that size in "pixels" and imagined you said the size in "points", which is 1/72 inch. After that it's inches/mm/points whatever but pixels means nothing.

I agree the stock message is confusing, in fact out and out wrong for an EPS saved from Illustrator. (Not for an EPS saved from Photoshop, though). It's just impossible to turn " Artboard size must be between 15 MP and 68 MP." into any settings in Illustrator for creating or saving EPS.

Thanks but i am not working only with adobe stock. I upload my works shutterstock and gettyimages too. Other services want .EPS and max. AI 10 available format i must save & send. Because of this I need to know how can possible. Before i did, before Adobe Illustrator CC 2019 used, there if i changed artboard size then automaticly my EPS file size will be higher resolution. But how it not work anymore in CC 2020 ?! I don't understand this. Impossible how much resized artborart, i never found a solution make thar EPS resolution something larger than 18-20 mega pixel !? But 10 days ago i did, 2 years lenght i did. What changed with Adobe Illustrator CC2020 ?

The only place you see resolution (pixels per inch, or ppi) in Illustrator is for raster effects, such as drop shadow and Gaussian blur, which is why you will find it in the Effects menu. Vector does not have resolution.

Theoretically .eps is also vector and has no resolution, unless one opens an image and then saves it as an eps. I’ve seen that happen.

We can move this thread to the Adobe Stock forum, where you can get an answer from another contributor or from staff. Would you like us to do that?

Hi

You didn't say anything wrong, and it's okay to type in your native language if that's easier. We can translate. I think "okay" means it's okay to move the thread, so I'll do that. Adobe is on leave until January 2, btw.

I observe that the official guidelines include this complete nonsense for vector illustrations (about size in MP). Here from https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/stock/contributor/help/vector-requirements.html -

Standalone vector file upload (AI, EPS and SVG formats only)

For AI and EPS:

  • Artboard size: minimum 15 MP, maximum 68 MP
  • File size maximum: 45 MB
  • When saving, make sure Create PDF Compatible File is checked.

It is worth at least checking that the last two requirements are met (though I don't really see how an EPS can be PDF compatible...). There have also been various reports of Illustrator 2020 not creating a PDF Compaible File even when asked to do so, not sure if a cause was found.  You can try an AI file instead of EPS.

You need to customize for the stock provider you upload to. And if you want a big customer base you save your file in a lower AI version. Tis because a lot of the persons buying stock still have old Ai versions or are using a different program to open the files. This, obviously is not in Adobe‘s interest.

So other stock and Adobe‘s stock preferences and motivation are different.

To express the artboard size in pixels is a nonsense in my view for vector files. But that is a different story.

The thing is: nobody uses Illustrator 10 anymore. Apart from some historically interested computer nerds in some museum maybe.

Everyone who uses some other application, will only be able to open the embedded EPS. Which is EPS version 3 (state of the art in 1997, all transparency flattened, brushes expanded and I really don't want to know what happens to gradients). So  the downward compatibility and the platform compatiblity of an Illustrator EPS 10 is a joke (and this is the family friendly phrase).

Some users of alternative applications won't even be able to open the Illustrator EPS 10, because their apps cannot handle this specific kind of double content files. FreeHand being an example of this.

On the other hand CorelDRAW could even open native AI files quite well.

I send my works for sell in stock service and that service rules it. If i not prepare for they customers then not accept. Who don't want easly send and accept. Why i searching 3 different forums for this solution ?

Whatever it must be some settings because with Adobe Illustrator CC2019 i did what i need more than 10 months lenght. This problem come with Adobe Illustrator CC2020. Looks like when they prepare new version something they forgot or changed.

Yes, i remember Corel Draw too, maybe i will try it. Thanks for help.

"Looks like when they prepare new version something they forgot or changed."

Nobody knows your files. Neither the 2019 files nor the 2020 files.

Nobody knows how exactly those services check files. Must be some automatic check. Maybe metadata - for sure they don't check the file structure or the content.

So in this forum we cannot know what went wrong. You will have to ask the services for details. Maybe they can tell you, but I won't put too much hope into it.

btw: CorelDRAW cannot save to Illustrator 10 EPS.
