Can somone please explain to me why I am getting charged $197 exit fees when I pay a monthly subscription?
I am trying to get answers/ reasoning of why this amount is so high or at least a break down of costs but I just get sent through multiple webpages that give me no information.
I beleive these exit fees are beyond ridiculous for a monthly subscription and I have no way of navigating it.
I would not recommend Adobe to any designers. I really hope gen Z can invent a better program so Adobe doesn't have the monopoly in the workplace and design field. Absolutely rdiculous and unapproachable.
You need to pay cancellation fees, because you promised Adobe to pay a subscription for at least a year. If you would have liked to cancel anytime without a fee, you would have taken a monthly subscription.
You also need to pay the early termination fee, because you agreed with the terms and conditions of this contract.
The early termination fee is half of the remaining due.

There is a monthly subscription, which costs more and can be cancelled any time. But you can get a generous discount if you promise to pay for the year. Of course, if you want to break the promise, Adobe have to charge as they promised. They keep their promise because otherwise it's unfair to the people who paid the full price.

I Have exactly the same issue. I pay for almost three years, so I already fullfilled obligation to pay for one year, but when I try to cancel a plan I have a message that I should pay more than one hundred Euro cancelation fee. That's ridiculous.

Sorry, no, you did not fully understand the terms of your contract. The contract renews for a new year at the anniversary date. It's not that the contract then switches to a monthly renewed contract. To avoid cancellation fees, you need to cancel the last month of your subscription. If you cancel earlier, you will need to pay half of the remaining due as an early cancellation fee.
Don't blame me, however, for this. This is what is written in the contract you concluded with Adobe.
Tip: Contact Adobe customer care and negotiate.

My "Promise" to Adobe was my intent to pay for one single month, and do so once in a while, whenever I wanted something to purchase an some images.. I had done it previously; however, obviously I misread something this time... I am not a professional, nor a designer.
Sorry, but Gina28663861anav and Maciej28672468wtf4 are absolutely correct - at least from an EU point of view, these fees are not only ridiculous, but would be illegal here, due to the strong consumer protection laws.
Payback for GDPR, I guess.. Touché !!
I did not even know this sort of practice still existed... last I remember something like this was 25 years ago, trying to cancel a gym membership, back in Canada, in the late 90s.. And "gym-membership cancellation" became the meme it is, due to its notorious mal-practice, and how obviously ridiculous it is.
My mistake -sorry, "Promise"- to Adobe now has a 180 EUR price-tag on it, which only becomes after 30 days, which -spoiler-alert!- falls short of (very gracious) 14-day grace period...
Falls short, technically... but emotionally feels so close.. like only be short a couple of numbers on your lottery ticket... The anger even gives you that dopamine hit ! ❤️
Though, when i'm reminded once again of those 1990s gym-memberships, i think... Etremely convenient.
Btw, "negotiating" with chat-bots, no so 1990s .... and not so productive, either. Who'd a thought ?!?
This is sick and gross business practice.
But, alas, I WILL continue to pay Adobe monthly...
Not because, as a non-professional / non-designer, I have use for this many images..
Not because I actually have the sort of money to make the monthly payments..
No. None of those reasons.
As someone kindly reminded us above, not paying would be unfair to all of those who have paid full-price.
All of the designers, professionals, even hobbyists, and regular customers of Adobe.
It just would not be fair to them.
But above all else... and I feel most importantly.:
It would not be fair to Adobe,
And my Promise to them.
Thank you.
PS - Is there a Pledge tier on offer ??
And anyone know where the tip-jar is, around here ??

The early termination fee has nothing to do with GDPR.
