I am trying to download an image (417220710) which shows the trnsparency hatch pattern in the background. When I download it the background is NOT transparent.

How do I get the image with the transparency as indicated?

There doesn't appear to be any way to replace the hatch pattern with a transparency. I trid photoshop and Illustrator with no luck.

You haven't mentioned what type of file you're downloading. So I really have no real idea how to help you.

Are you downloading a PNG or are you downloading an AI file? AI files are truly vector files with layers and yeah they are transparent. You just have to manipulate them correctly.

If its a PNG, just delete the blocks.

If this is an AI file, it must be opened in Illustrator first. Then you look for the layer with the block pattern on it and get rid of it. Replace it with your desired image in Illustrator.

Or save it with the blocks layer removed and then save it as a layered file. Then open in PhotoShop and place your background in there.

Vector files such as the one you subscribe have to be made this way otherwise they are not true vectors.

But really those layers with the blocks are not truly needed and are purely just to attract buyers maybe even confuse them.

Please dont assume that I have Illustrator, I do not. I do not intent to purchase Illustrator for the sole purpose of  making stock images useful.

I was able to find, download, and use PNG files that have transparent background. However, Stock does not offer a lot of PNG images. Of the ten images of snow I downloaded this morning only 1 offered a PNG version that I could use. You can't tell if an image offers a PNG version until you download it.

Not having Illustrator limits the usefulness of  Ceative Cloud/stock  for me because there are a lot of illustrations that only have *.ai versions.

In your first message, you said: I trid (sic) photoshop and Illustrator with no luck.

So I can assume that you have Illustrator.

And yes, some vector assets simply do not work without having Illustrator, and you won't know that before licensing. You know, however, beforehand if a PNG file is offered. If a PNG file is offered, the asset has transparency (for a vector asset):

For those not offering PNG, JPEG is offered. JPEG has no transparency.

As PNG is somewhat new, and only the new files get offered as PNG, besides real PNG files in the illustrations and photos section. If the BG is transparent, you have indeed a limited number of files offered for the moment. What I find more problematic, is that you do not see whether an asset is Ai or EPS. EPS files can be opened in any vector editor, Ai files should be opened in Illustrator.

Its really not my intention to get into a boxing match about how great/not great Adobe stock is.

I have used the trial version of Illustrator and one of my colleagues also had the trial version of Illutrator.

I am not a graphic artist nor am I an illustrator. I haven't seen any images that are *.eps. Again I am not an illustrator so editing vector graphics isn't something I do on regular basis (not at all actually).

My point is that there are not a lot of images with transparent backgrounds that I can use. You seem to be agreeing with that perspective so I believe that concludes our discusion.

Great. So what can be done to help you (after having noted that you do not have Illustrator)?

I suppose that you tried out the 30-day-10-assets free offer and that you cancelled as you learned that you can't use the service?
