Looking for clarification on using stock images as “part” of a business logo. Basically, the main body of the logo is text and I woul like to add a hat to one of the letters. Can this be done?

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for reaching out to the Adobe Stock community.

You can definitely add the business logo that you own over the Adobe Stock image but just adding the logo won't be considered as modifying the image. The image is considered modified when the final modified version of the image shows no resemblance with the original image. Credit line needs to be added only when the image is used unmodified.

However, I would like to inform you that you cannot use an Adobe Stock image/asset itself for creating a logo since you need to have complete ownership of the image you use for your company logo, since logos are intended to be registered and protected to prevent other companies or organizations from using the same image. Because Adobe Stock only grants a right to use images and does not transfer the ownership, these images cannot be used in or as a logo.

As long as the hat is not the main part of the logo, you are welcome to use that to pimp-up the logo element.

The problem with using stock assets with logos is that you do not have the exclusive use of the design, so you cannot protect your artwork as it should be for a logo. If the stock asset is, however, only an additional eye catcher, I do not see a problem using the whole as a logo...
