Credit line requirement when using Stock images for Social Media Ads

Hello,

I have a question about the license and the creditine to the photographer :

I want to use Facebook/Twitter/Snap/Insta Ads for that I want to use Adobe Stock photos.

In your license terms I found that I have to name the owner of the picture if I don’t change the picture.

But I put text over the photo. Is that enough for me to not have to put  creditine to the photographer in my picture.

See some example below of how I use the images. Is that without creditine ok or have I named the photographer?

Thanks for your answer

Hi Daniel and Cari,

I checked all the attachments and details provided in the thread for the image in question and the confusions around it. Below are my answers:

1. You can use the images as per the terms of use and restrictions mentioned here: License information and Terms of use | Adobe Stock

2. You can definitely add the logo that you own over the image but just adding the logo won't be considered as modifying the image. The image is considered modified when the final modified version of the i

If possible, can you provide the codes for one or more of the images you are looking a licensing? And also what type of license are you looking at purchasing? As I believe the requirements are different depending on the type of license you purchased.

If it's a standard license, I believe that if you don't make changes to the image it is classified as using it in 'editorial manner' ... you would need to add the credit. However, I'm not sure if you might need to change the license so you can use the image in 'advertising'.

I'll ping someone from Adobe Stock team to have a look at your question.

Hello,

I have a standard license.

Here is a Link to one picture I want  to use: https://stock.adobe.com/de/images/schwimmen-unter-wasser-mann-blau-kraulen-training/178372476.

In my first post you see the final picture and what the finished would Ad look like.

As you can see I added some Text into the Pictures and sometimes my Logo.

I only want to know if I have to use the creditline in the picture for the Ads or if the changes I did are enought to dont need the creditline.

Thank you

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for reaching out to the Adobe stock community.

If you are making modifications on the major part of Adobe Stock image, then a credit line becomes optional.

As I can see from your above screenshot, you have only added some texts and logo to the image hence, you must include a credit line to the photographer/ contributor.

Also, I would like to let you know that you need to have complete ownership of the image you use for your company logo, since logos are intended to be registered and protected to prevent other companies or organizations from using the same image. Because Adobe Stock only grants a right to use images and does not transfer the ownership, these images cannot be used in or as a logo.

Please refer to Common Questions, Adobe Stock for more information.

Note: The modifications must be majorly made in order to exclude the credit line and also to add your company logo.

Hope this information helps!

Feel free to update this thread in case of any additional questions.

Regards,

Twarita

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.

The logo was created by a graphic designers for me, so I own the logo.

Is it OK that I'll then use it over  an Adobe Stock photo? I own the company logo license.

Ok, than i have to use the credtline.

Can i put the creditline in the text from the ad below the picture (for eg. on facebook ads) or have i but the creditline IN the picture (for eg. on the right border)?

Regards,

Daniel

Daniel,

What I meant from my above post is- You cannot put your logo on any unmodified image of Adobe Stock. Only if the image is majorly modified, then the logo can be included.

You must include the credit line on the image itself. It can be anywhere on the picture(right or left border)

The credit line(photographer's name) which you should mention on the image should be "© [Photographer's Name] /Adobe Stock."

Twarita

Twarita -- just clarifying what you are referring to in your second post (so I know and understand this as well)

  • The Standard license doesn't allow you to put a company logo and a line of text over an unedited image, making it a corporate Ad?

What license WOULD allow that?

Hello,

what is if I put the name of my site in the picture. My website calls swim-for-you,com. If i put "Swim For You" in the Picture as text like Picture 2, is that allowed?

I want to give my affiliates some advertising material. Is it allowed to use the picutres (for eg. picture 1 or 2) for this? They wouldnt upload the pictures on their own sever, they use a link from my server with the picuter and the picture have a link to my website. You see the Code below, the picutre is only on my server, and it will be embedded on the webiste from the affiliates.

Sorry that I ask so much, but i dont want to do any mistake and risk a fine.

The image is considered modified when the final modified version of the image shows no resemblance with the original image.

3. Credit line needs to be added only when the image is used unmodified.

4. As per the screenshots provided by you in the above posts I see that you're using the images as it and therefore you can put your logo there along with the credit line at the bottom right side in the format: © [Photographer's Name] /Adobe Stock.

Let me know if you still have any queries.

Hi Daniel,

Yes, you are correct that you can use this Adobe Stock image and add your text and logo but a credit line must be included.

Regardless of the fact that a different server is used, you need to transfer the license to your clients. Please note that if you are using the same assets for different clients, you need to license the image separately.

For more information on the client user https://wwwimages2.adobe.com/content/dam/acom/en/legal/servicetou/Adobe_Stock_Additional_Terms_en_US... , please refer to (section 3.4a).

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Regards,

Twarita
