Fx map in color mode does 3 kinds of blending : add/sub , Max and alpha blend .    But  Max one doesn't seem working.

Is it a bug or  I am  missing something?

Hello,

Thank you @davescm for flagging this to me!

The Max blending mode is not supported for FX-Maps in Color mode. There is indeed a bug in the sense that this blending mode should not be listed in this case.

Similarly, the Alpha blending mode is not supported in Grayscale mode.

I have reported this to the rest of the team. Thank you @kirkr5689 for reporting this!

Best regards.

It looks like a bug to me. It appears to work correctly in greyscale but not in colour.

Tagging Adobe's @Luca Giarrizzo to see if he can comment.

Would be nice if  fxmap cold do same style of blending as in shape splatter with "if else" where  the  heights from  alphas give the boolen by ">" and RGBA goes to if and else .

I also wonder  would it be same  performance wise if I just split RGBA to gray channels and  do synced  FX-map on them?

Why not keep it and make it work  instead.   Could be a huge improvement.   Max blending per channel for example

This is an opportunity to discuss this internally for sure! Changes to atomic nodes – especially ones as fundamental as the FX-Map – should always be considered with great care.

I appreciate the feedback!
