Overwrite Portal Input Connection

It would be handy if there was some way to overwrite a portal input connection after a certain point on the graph. 

 

For example, after blending in the texture here, I could set the test_01 portal to the output of the blend node to use from that point onwards, rather than needing to create a new test_02 portal.

I understand your use case and thank you for the suggestion, however that is not possible:

 

  • parallel streams sharing a common input portal would not work predictably
  • reassigning portal names along a stream introduces ambiguity and readability issues.

 

The feature was designed from the outset with unique names for each portal transmitter. This is also due to laying the groundwork for the possibility of assigning unique node names in the future, for scripting applications.
