I am using a Wacom tablet with a pen instead of a mouse.
I have my pen's 2 buttons bound to modifier keys within Wacom's software and never had any issues with it in any other software, but in SP it seems to bug out and cause the modifier inputs to be unresponsive/not being recognized.
I have to either press the same button on my pen multiple times and then hold it for a good second or two, OR I have to lift my pen and then attempt to press and hold the button again. After doing either of those 2 things it'll work for a random amount of time. Usually alt-tabbing onto another monitor/window breaks it again.
The pen's working fine and in other programs there's no delay.
I can alt-tab into Blender for example and instantly press and hold alt/ctrl/shift and I can see the modifier keys taking effect by the bottom toolbar changing.
Same goes for any other program, the buttons take effect immediately, but inside of SP they randomly break and are unresponsive.
This happens upon alt-tabbing, but I am pretty sure other actions like merely staying inside SP long enough and doing things also causes this behavior.
I've also tried turning the Steam overlay off, but it still happens. I am on the Steam Edition of SP, 2024 aka current version.
Is this is a known issue? Is there any workaround? This issue only seems to happen with my pen's buttons, when I press alt on my keyboard and try the same it works flawlessly from my testing.
I mainly just use my tablet + pen as mouse. My pen for the cursor and its two buttons for two modifier keys.
My tablet itself has 4 buttons which I use as left/right/middle click and neither of those ever exhibit this kind of behavior, it's just the pen's buttons which are unresponsive inside of SP.
Oh also, I've found this: https://community.adobe.com/t5/substance-3d-painter-discussions/unable-to-rotate-using-a-wacom-pen/m...
That post is from 2021. There it says 6.3.44 is broken and to use 6.3.43. I am personally using 6.3.43 atm, but a sub version of it, 6.3.43-3.
I am not sure if the guy had the exact same issue, but it sounds similar enough.
So maybe 6.3.43(-x) is broken in 2024, even tho it worked in 2021?
Would love for someone to take a look at this. Rolling back drivers is quite the hassle with Wacom's software, as exported/saved configs are buggy and often Wacom Desktop Center won't let you import saved settings.
