Since some days (after updating i guess) my imported materials looks strange. On a Mack M1 Macbook pro,

Painter latest Version. If i place material on a mesh (wood/metal) i get no structure. either only a reflection or just the main color of the material...

Thank you for any help

I made a downgrade from 8.xxx to 7.4.3 and now it works again.... I thought my Macbook Pro M1 isn´t really old (2020)... but as it seems Painter 8.xxx isnt working well. Anyone same problem? A whole day of frustration ...

I made a screenshot from 7.4.3  as i did before with the latest Version:Bildschirmfoto 2022-06-22 um 07.22.47.pngBildschirmfoto 2022-06-22 um 07.24.17.png

Help! Help please!

Is there anybody reading this from the stuff! Hmmm, is this the right place for reporting errors with Painter 8.1 (also 8.1.1)?

Maybe its vacation time and the leftover staff is so busy...

I just write again to tell the Problem is stil there also with 8.1.1

After Updating the latest Upgrade i was disappointed because the same problem exists and i cant use the Version on my M1 MBP. So again downgrading to 7.4.x ...

1. Material previews apear corupted (Imported Materials from the Substance Assets page)

2. Placed Materials appear on meshes only in the main color - even if i rise the repetitions - i cant see any structur on the mesh

I need help! Unfortunately my customers arent that much patient if i cant deliver.

Hi,

Have you tried rotating your environment with shift right-click drag in your viewport or display>environment>rotation?

Thank you,

Kind Regards,

Thank you for your reply! Yes i did, i tried a lot and i guess its not the enviroment lighting direction because if you see the material browser comparison of the same material, you can already see a problem in the "browser"

Unfortunately every new try costs me 2 complete installations - first the new n then again the downgade... just to be able to work with it 😉

Am Happy for any solutionpainter Problem.jpg

I am still frustrated! I gave it a try and made the upgrade again to 8.1.1 BUT NO SOLUTION! I tried with imported and with  the startup materials - all the same. No material can be placed - just the main color of the material appears. I tried to change the repetition number of the material structure - nothing. The 2D Bildschirmfoto 2022-07-05 um 09.30.43.pngwindow doesnt even show any structure. Changing the light direction made no difference. The material library shows that the materials are not realy seamless. Has noone else this problem? Maybe i am not in the right support forum? If painter was just for playing or hobby ok - but where can i find help?

If i downgrade to 7.4.x it works ...

Apple MBP M1, OS 11.6.1, 16 GB Ram

Unfortunately i have to downgrade again to the older Version ...

I'll be really glad if there is a solution to find from the experts

Hi,

Have you tried changing the tiling of your material?  I'm not able to reproduce any of what you are experiencing. Would you mind sharing a project/sbsar that causes you trouble?

Thank you,

Kind Regards,

I did some oteher tests in Painter 8.1.1:

1. After opening painter i see already in the elements window some of the materials "corupted"

2. opening the example mesh "tiling material" and placing the material "aluminium insulator" the result is awful

3. imported fbx-meshes (made in Cheetah3D), which were perfect in version 7.4.3 dont even show any material after "placing" mat. on it

In your last screenshot, I notice your material "aluminium insulator" seems to have been applied to a mesh, have you edited that material in substance designer?

In any case, would you share a bit more information?

Sharing a log, and a screenshot of your layer stack and of your model with its UV layout would allow me to pinpoint the source of your issue.
Thank you,
Kind Regards,

Geoffroy SC
