Unsure what happened to my decal Gizmo

New Here ,
Nov 08, 2023 Nov 08, 2023

G'day,

I'm new to using Substance Painter - but I've been dropping decals as an alpha just fine so far.

Today I've done exactly as I've done previously - but I don't have any Gizmo controls in the viewport.

Currently I'm dropping decals onto the UV map which is a pretty painful process.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the message.

Careful when drag and dropping an asset in the 2D view, this isn't the same as dropping it in the 3D view. The 2D view doesn't handle the Warp projection (what's make the asset a decal), therefore it automatically switch the projection to UV projection.

The options regarding the Decal Gizmo are on top of the 3D view.

G'day Cyril,

Thanks for the reply.

I have been dropping the decals onto the 3D view, but the gizmo doesnt appear and the toolbar isnt there.

I'm also using UV projection.

Do you have anymore suggestions?

Are you dropping the alpha as Masks? This is a known bug we're currently facing in the 9.1.0. Unfortunately, dropping the asset as a Mask switch its projection to UV (which isn't the correct one for decal).

Please switch manually the projection propertie to Warp after drag and dropping.
