Hi there,
Was wondering if anyone know's if it is possible with substance painter, or know of any other solutions, to go about baking AO from and onto objects with transparent textures.
I came across this video by Outgang on youtube, who examined the character model Cloud from the Final Fantasy VII Remake game. With the hair they appear to use multiple UV sets, one with the texture and one where they have made each hair plane it's on UV shell so each hair plane could have it's on AO.

Anyone know if substance painter can do this? or any other software that can?

i have the same problem right now. i know this is an old thread but maybe someone can help still...
i know that blender can do it with a combiend bake, but you can bake just the ambient occlusion + alpha/opacity in blender aswell. if you import your model and add a material to it and put an ambient occlusion node as the shader input and the alpha map as an input and then bake it it should work but id prefer using only substance for baking.
please note: for alpha to be usable in blender you have to first go into evee and under the material properties for the onject set the alpha to alpha clip so you can see it (idk if this is necessary for baking but i usually do it so i can see it in the material preview). also you need to adjust the levels of the scene and the color of the AO node according to your needs.
