Creating Unique Knit for Footwear

New Here ,
Apr 04, 2022 Apr 04, 2022

Hi Substance Community!

I am a footwear designer who is looking to create a complex knit pattern for a shoe. I want to use different knits that all run together like a seamless pattern. What would be the best way to go about this?

Hope this is enough information.

Thanks!

Hello @defaultoj9uoblvs0ab.,

Thank you for your message and sorry for the delay in response.

Depending on the complexity of the pattern, I advise you to give a try to Substance 3D Sampler. The software has many tools to build fabric patterns and is very friendly to use. This tutorial should be a good first step to create something similar.

Alternatively, you can try to scan an image with the Image to Material feature.

Lastly, if the pattern is too specific, you can still build it with Substance 3D Designer, but the learning curve can be a bit harsh in the beginning.

Best regards,
