Situation:
I have paint mask on solid chunk of model but because of tight corners of shape, i need use small strokes on edge=  cant go bold with big brush stroke. Lasso selection would be great addition to polygon fill tool

Why: that would improve speed of painting or selecting particular elemenets of model. Lasso and polygonal lasso tool is basic in 2D, and substance is sort of 2D as well.

+ 100 to this. Geometry-based selection and masking is a good start, but the Photoshop-style lasso and marquee tools are sooooo much more flexible.

Painter is an incredible software for advanced stuff such as smart materials, generators or filters, but ironically it seems a bit lacking in terms of pure painterly tools. Would be nice if the merger with Adobe allowed to integrate some of the Photoshop capacities.

And yes, Quick Mask mode is a step in the right direction, but nothing beats the good old rectangle marquee or hand-drawn lasso selection. In 2D or 3D space, whichever is easier, but please consider it.
