How To decrease Substance Painter Files?

My Substance Painter Files are 1-2GB large, just working on a simple piece.

What's causing Substance Painter creating such large project files and how to reduce them?

When you save your project use the option "save and compact" in the file menu. This should decrease significantly the size of your project on the disk.
