I can't select any meshes on my black mask

I am having issues with using black masks in Substance 3D Painter. On my desired layer, I am able to create a new folder and a new black mask. However, when I click on the model and try selecting a mesh (with polygon fill and mesh fill), it does not select it. I also cannot go back to change it later. It is stuck as being a completely black mask.
I am working on multiple layers each with their own segments in my model. The first layer worked completely normal. It still works when I switch back to that layer and try adjusting the mask selection. It is only an issue with my other masks.
I am switching to the correct layer. I am selecting with the polygon fill -> mesh fill tool. I'm using the same process that works on the first layer. However, it doesn't seem to work.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the message.

Unfortunately, I'll need a little bit more infos to give you a proper help. When you are in the Mask display (Alt + Left click on the mask thumbnail) does it work as it should? Have you made sure the selection color of the Polygon Fill tool isn't black? Could you share some visuals of the issue?

Best regards,
