Hi, I'm trying to create a texture for a character that goes from a crystal, to an intermediate point with rock underneath the crystal, and then to solid rock only.

Something like this photo which is an ice covered shield, but still has part of the shield visible under the ice.

Any help or tutorial that you could recommend would be of great help, thank you!

You'll want to ultilize the opacity channel if you want it to see through. This also depends on where the asset will be used if you'll need to fake it with opacity or use something like refraction for the crystal part.
