Hi All
I tried importing an obj and for some reason the object will not appear in 3D Substance Painter. I exported the obj from CLO3D. I have tried importing the obj into Substance Painter by dragging the file into the 3d window and also by using the File import method. Neither method works and I've tried several times.
I have gotten several error messages in the logs:
What does "[Scene 3D] OBJ: No object detected to attach a new mesh instance." mean?
And what does "[Resources List Model: Icons memory budget set to 100MB" mean? When I look into my settings it says +500MB.
I appreciate any help anyone can provide.
Hmmm, Substance 3D Painter may have some issue with .obj depending on which software exported it. Could you try to export your object as a .fbx and tell me if the problem persists.
Keep me posted.

Hello @Lei5E5D,
Thanks for the message.
The lines we should worry bout are those in red. In your first sent log, I can see there are multiple issues with your UVs.
Face(s) spanning across multiple UDIM means there is one or several UV islands localised on multiple UV tile (1001, 1002, etc.). Make sure that no UV islands is spanning between two (or more) tiles.
Also, Substance 3D Painter doesn't support UDIM on negative spaces (below or to the left of the tile 1001).
If the errors persist, I'd advise you to load the object inside another software to make sure there is no issue at the export.
Best regards,

Hi Cyril,
First of all, thank you for getting back to me. You were right! I checked my UV editor and I saw one tiny little piece that crossed over into the negative space. That helped to fix my UDIM.
However, even after fixing that issue, I still have a notification at the bottom right that says the same in red font " [Scene 3D] OBJ: No object detected to attached a new mesh instance" . But somehow Substance 3D Painter still looks like it does bake when I bake the meshes and still lets me add textures. And in the log it seems to be still autosaving. Is there still something wrong with my OBJ? Please note, I was able to load the .obj file into Blender and export it.
Thank you again for all your help,
Warm regards

Hi Cyril,
Thank you for your suggestion. As you indicated, I experimented with exporting as .fbx and it worked! The software I used was CLO3D. I had to try multiple times to figure it out based on their settings and now I'm so relieved it finally works -- No error message when importing into Substance 3D Painter WooHoo! Many sincere thanks to you Cyril!

First, I'd advise you to make sure your export parameters were clean and check your .fbx inside another 3D software. I'd also advise you to try to import your object in another format (like .obj).

Cyril,
If when I export to OBJ it keeps adding neagtive space, I only use 1001-1003 but it adds more balck boxes, how can I solve that?
